As the founder Head of General Medicine at this New Government Medical College Baramulla (GMC-B), J&K UT. It is a moment of great pleasure and privilege to extend a warm welcome to all. The department of General Medicine Government Medical College Baramulla (GMC-B) provides comprehensive healthcare services to the People of North Kashmir. By sustained efforts, committment & with a vast experience behind me as a senior faculty member & HOD at SKIMS, Soura, I along with a very young & talented faculty in the department of medicine with the relentless support from the college administration will leave no stone unturned to provide the quality patient care. Undergraduate medical students will be taught the clinical medicine to the best of abilities of my team. With the ever available support from administration, I along with my team do promise: To strive to uphold the public trust, discover new knowledge, and contribute importantly to the alleviation of suffering and to the cure of human diseases To strive to provide quality Medical Services to the rural population of North Kashmir. To introduce sub-specialities of medicine, this will include Gastroenterology, Pulmonology, Nephrology, Neurology, and Cardiology etc. To reduce the dependence on tertiary care hospitals of Srinagar. To reduce the referrals to tertiary care hospitals of Srinagar. To create a setup of referral system from district and sub-district hospitals of Health Services functioning in surrounding rural areas. To create talented and skilled manpower to cater the catchment area requirements. To encourage collaboration with other institutions of country to ensure high quality learning. To encourage our staff and students to conduct meaningful and advanced research and to publish that accordingly. To establish high quality academic environment and to prepare students to compete for advanced Medical Courses. To establish an advanced Endoscooy lab for various interventional endoscopic procedures ( ERCP etc) for all the needy patients in North Kashmir. To upgrade the dialysis services. To curb the growing HCV infection in North Kashmir by educating the community at doorsteps regarding the menace of using IV drugs. We have a qualified, dedicated and committed team of doctors and other supportive staff to achieve these goals and objectives. The support and cooperation provided to us by Government of J&K and various authorities involved in establishing this mega project, particularly the Administration of GMC Baramulla headed by the Principal Dr. Prof. Ruby Reshi is highly commendable.
